1 Beds 2 Baths 1,158 Sq.Ft.
A loft-like one bedroom of approximately 1,158 square feet, with a powder room, set on the second floor one flight above the private gardens of Gramercy Square. The second floor is the only floor in The Tower with twelve foot ceilings, and with south facing floor to ceiling windows they open the 29 foot living and dining room to the treetops, and the landscaped courtyard by M. Paul Friedberg & Partners is a few steps down; the current owners have treated it as an extension of the home.An entry foyer with the powder room off it leads to the open kitchen. The Tower's design hallmarks carry through: modern transitional interiors, an expansive plan, airy ceiling heights, abundant windows and a warm contemporary palette of finishes, with solid oak, rift and quartered, throughout. Italy-based Minimal kitchens remain true to their eponymous design mandate: exceptional, understated form, with custom stained cabinetry, Calacatta marble countertops and backsplash, an island breakfast bar and top of the line appliances, including an integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator, Wolf microwave and Bosch dishwasher. The gracious primary suite offers exceptional storage, with a custom fitted walk-in closet, custom-cut Stark carpeting and automated double shades with blackout. The en suite bath is finished with Lefroy Brooks fixtures, a custom double vanity by Minimal, radiant heated flooring and a walk-in rain shower. A separate utility closet houses an LG washer and vented dryer, and the residence has central HVAC. A private storage unit of 5' x 4' x 6' is available for separate purchase from the owner, and parking is available through the condominium at monthly rates.Located just east of venerable Gramercy Park, Gramercy Square is a full service condominium of 223 residences across a uniquely configured collection of four buildings, set around private gardens on the former New York Life Insurance campus. The Tower, 17 stories designed inside and out by Woods Bagot, holds 130 loft-like residences, studios to four bedrooms. The Gramercy Club, an 18,000 square foot amenity suite designed and curated by La Palestra, offers a 75 foot sunlit pool, hot tub, spa with sauna and steam, fitness center, residents' lounge with garden exposure, media screening room, private dining room, playroom, tween room, meditation studio and golf simulator, with cultural, athletic and bespoke wellness programming. Doorman, elevator and roof deck.
Agent's Note
From Curtis Bain. Details about the apartment are drawn from the listing information provided through RLS by Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
Twelve-foot ceilings frame the 29-foot living and dining room in this one bedroom, and the listing says the second floor is the only floor in The Tower with that height. Tall ceilings can make a room feel larger and give you more freedom with furniture, though they don't settle how the rooms work together, so it's the plan around them that counts.
The windows are south facing and floor to ceiling, and the listing says they open the room toward the treetops and the courtyard. South-facing windows can bring strong natural light, but what actually reaches the room depends on what's built across the way and on the season. For an open horizon, a south-facing window gets about 8.5 hours of direct sun on the winter solstice and about 6.1 hours on the summer solstice. Nearby buildings can block some of that.
The kitchen is open to the living space and finished with Calacatta marble counters and backsplash, custom stained cabinetry and an island breakfast bar. The refrigerator is an integrated Sub-Zero, and the kitchen also has a Wolf microwave and a Bosch dishwasher. If you cook most nights, the island gives you a place to work while the rest of the room stays open.
The primary suite has a custom fitted walk-in closet. The en suite bath has Lefroy Brooks hardware, a double vanity made by Minimal, warm floors underfoot and a walk-in shower with a rain head. Minimal, the Italy-based firm named in the listing, also designed the kitchens. An LG washer and vented dryer sit in a separate utility closet, so laundry stays inside the apartment.
The building has a doorman, an elevator, a concierge and a courtyard. Its amenities include an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room, storage space and a children's playroom, and pets are allowed.
The listing places the building just east of Gramercy Park. Stuyvesant Square is about 3 minutes on foot, and the 3 Av (L) and 23 St-Baruch College (6) stations are each about 7 minutes away. Eden Gourmet Marketplace and Westside Market are each about 3 minutes away for groceries.
Does the apartment have in-unit laundry?
Yes. An LG washer and vented dryer are in a separate utility closet inside the apartment.
Does the building have a doorman?
Yes. The building has a doorman, and its amenities also include a concierge.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. Pets are allowed in the building.
